CASA-IV Geometer Edition — the union of structural analysis and associative parametric CAD.
Overview
The Geometer Edition brings all of the features of the Advanced version and adds WYSIWYG associative parametric CAD for constructing, dimensioning, and annotating models.
The CAD constructions are created through straight-forward real-time graphical interaction and they know how they are related to other constructions, and are thus associatively defined.
In addition, constructions can be defined in terms of variables and expressions, such as an angle or a radius, and are thus parametrically defined.
If any construction, variable, or expression changes then anything dependent upon it will be recalculated automatically in real-time, thus causing a complete update of the model in response to those changes.
For example, if a line is constructed as being tangential to a circle and that circle later changes size or position then the line will be recomputed accordingly to remain tangential.
Thanks to the method by which CASA infers the geometrical construction from the user’s mouse clicks, it requires only six drawing tools: one for points, one for lines, one for circles, one for ink, one for text, and one for dimensions.
The CAD operates in a WYSIWYG fashion, with line thicknesses, text, dimensions, and layout all appearing on the screen as they will on the printed page.
